Is It Time to “Remodel” Your Business?

Are you starting to fall behind your competitors? You might want to consider turning your business into a more modern version of itself.

A Remodel for Business

If you constantly find yourself thinking, “We need more storage space,” or “We need more hands-on deck; we’re not leaving any money on the table!” that’s normally the first indication that it may be time to remodel your business.  After all, there are some things like constantly working long hours and poor customer service that can lose customers over time.  However, times change and businesses should constantly evolve with them.  I’m not saying throw out everything about your business and start again but instead I’m saying look at what your company is currently doing and think about how it can be improved.  Improvements like:

·      More efficient work flow – streamlining your business and making sure that all of your employees are working on projects they’re competent at and enjoy (increased productivity)

·      Increased efficiency – increased efficiency is a result of increasing productiveness; make sure you aren’t doing anything redundant like having two people do the same report or task twice (reducing waste)

·      Better customer service – making sure customers get what they want when they want it and not just what you’re able to give them is important.  Continuously trying to improve your customer service will win over new customers, keeping existing customers happy, and keeping your business from losing money to competitors (increased productivity, increased revenue)

·      Cut back on overtime – everyone loves a little extra spending money but if it starts cutting into your sleep time and mental health, I would highly advise you to stop doing it.  After all, no one can work at their full capacity for 40+ hours every week.  It isn’t healthy for the employees or the company! (increased productivity, increased revenue)

·      New technology – new computers, better software, etc.  Upgrading your office equipment will help improve workflow tremendously! (streamlining your business)

·      Increased storage space/warehouse space – even if you don’t plan on expanding your business, you should always plan for it.  It’s better to be prepared than to have nowhere to put new projects! (increased efficiency, increased productivity)

·      Do I need to go into everything that could possibly improve company efficiency?  I could do this all day but I’m sure you’re interested in getting at least some work done today!

Is It Really Time To Remodel?

Times are constantly changing and if you don’t change with them, chances are your competitors will leave you in the dust.  However, make sure you really need to remodel before diving headfirst into it.  Your company might just need a little bit of fine-tuning here and there.  I’m not saying you should ignore the warning signs but try to fix as much as you can before taking any drastic action.
